Great Tragedy in the Skies Over India

A terrible plane crash occurred in India. A jet operated by Air India, en route to London, crashed shortly after taking off from the airport in Ahmedabad, a city in the western part of the country.
The aircraft was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and was carrying 242 people: 230 passengers and 12 crew members. According to authorities, more than 200 people lost their lives, making it one of the worst air disasters India has experienced in the past 40 years.

The impact was so intense that there were also victims on the ground, as the plane crashed into a building where several students were present. Rescue teams arrived quickly and worked for hours searching for survivors in the wreckage of both the plane and the building.
Despite the extremely low odds, a miracle was reported: a British man survived the crash. He was sitting in seat 11A and was found alive in the debris.
Authorities have already launched a full investigation to determine what caused the accident. The plane’s black boxes—which record everything that happens during a flight—will help uncover what went wrong. Several countries have offered support to India and the families of the victims.
This crash is especially significant because it’s the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787 since the aircraft entered service in 2011. Due to the high number of casualties, it is being considered one of the most tragic aviation disasters in recent years worldwide.
